I bought an H5550 in April this year (2008), supposedly with 12 months warranty. A week ago it failed to turn on. I borrowed a fully charged battery, tried hard reset. Tried holding power button on for one exiguous as advised by HP. No go. Commenced warranty claim to be told, "this product is outside its service life. There are no more parts available for it".
Before you select, search the web for customer reviews. You'll acquire its given HEAPS of pains. It appears to have been the lemon of the range, often objective dying like mine did. If you try to earn it fixed you'll probably be told by HP - like I was - that they can't repair it.
Terrible product. The factory battery has a gracious microscopic feature that wipes out all data if the battery dies. You have to recall an aftermarket battery to avoid this. Unfortunately I learned this the hard contrivance. Also, the shroud isn't very user wonderful. Once you've outmoded a product like the iPhone, this seems very outdated. You can gain most of the features available on this on you standard cell phone. HP makes tremendous laptops, but this product is really outdated.
