I attached the mini to my HDTV (using mini-DVI to HDMI cable) and an optical digital audio cable. Characterize and audio are perfect. It's sizable.

Let's initiate with the basics. It's voice quite, and it uses about as powerful power as fluorescent light bulb when slothful.

I can peek or listen to anything in iTunes using an IR remote (I employ a "Logitech Harmony XBox 360" remote) via the built-in Apple Frontrow software or using Apple's magical Remote app for the iPhone (or iPod touch) .

Or I can control the mini media center from my laptop across the room using Mac "Cover Sharing" (or VNC on any PC) to sight any video or audio source from the internet (Hulu, Silverlight, Flash, Amazon VOD, Netflix VOD etc.) or expend the Apple DVD Player to play VIDEO_TS folders. (Please respect filmmakers and don't pirate movies.) You can gaze what ever you want. You name it.

Although it's an option, it really doesn't even need a dedicated keyboard and mouse.

Other non-computer media boxes that are available can only play a fixed status of sources -- e.g. iTunes and YouTube (AppleTV) . Netflix or Amazon VOD (Roku) or ripped or downloaded video files (WDTV) . Aid for anything outside of what those devices do today is objective a wishing game or requires a lot of painstaking media format conversion.

The mini as a media center is handsome noteworthy obsolescence-proof. So while it may seem a lot more expensive than something like WDTV today, I'll bet I'll tranquil be using the mini media center long after that WDTV has joined the pile at the relieve of the closet.

This Apple update of the always compact Mac Mini further lifts the model away from being an accessory. It should also silence even more people that the Mini is heading for its demise. The machine has slowly taken a solid dwelling in Apple's line up.

I already had the last generation, Spring 2009 Mac Mini, but decided to go for yet another. The reason being is I spend the Mac Mini connected to my tremendous cloak television. This allows me to easily recognize up information in my living room from the couch, using a wireless bluetooth mouse and keyboard. However, most of all, it takes online streaming to the television shroud. Whether I want to stream from a TV network's website, or from Amazon, or anywhere in between, the Mac Mini is not puny to a specific box serving one service, but being a fat fledge computer can obviously go anywhere on the Internet for streaming convey. I like this. Of course, I also explain off vacation images, and whatnot on the Mini connected to the sizable camouflage. The uses are really unlimited.

The purpose of my second Mini will be to connect it with a bedroom flat panel, for similar uses. The dinky guy is a hard worker. This entry level model is even more competent now that Apple has bumped its memory to 2 GB, which for your average work in OS X Snow Leopard is an efficient amount. The processor hurry has also been bumped and hard drive size, making the entry level Mac Mini an even better value than before. Wi-Fi and bluetooth are built-in once again.

I come by the entry level Mac Mini to again be the best value. The higher offering is a couple hundred more, it does give a faster processor, twice as noteworthy memory and twice as distinguished hard drive situation. If you judge you'll need that, it's not a dreadful value, but it unprejudiced seems the coarse extinguish is always an especially suited value, and it gets the job done. I rep the inputs on the Mac Mini to be astonishing too. It has two present outputs, mini-DVI and Displayport, 5 USB ports, one firewire 800, and of course ethernet. You can hotfoot a LOT of accessories into the Mac Mini. One such thing is an external hard drive, so if you acquire the entry level and gain the hard drive size limiting, you can always connect external USB or Firewire hard drives for extra storage.

This mini has OS X Snow Leopard pre-installed, so you'll have the note recent operating system installed out of the box. Plus, you obtain iLife 09, which has the enormous applications like iPhoto, iMovie, Garageband, iDVD, and iWeb.

Overall, I do not consume the Mac Mini at a desk as a mature computer. I utilize it has a home theatre PC. Nevertheless, the Mac Mini is enough of a workhorse to certainly exercise it for office tasks, home photo editing, etc. It's not a drag by any means. If you have a quality present, the Mac Mini makes a competent computer solution, but don't forget a keyboard and mouse too. I recommend it, and I'm aroused to have one connected to both televisions in my home.

This is my second Mac Mini. I bought my first Mac Mini when they were first introduced. I have been using that same Mac mini for about 5 years with no problems. I finally decided to rep a current one because more and more of the internet features wouldn't work anymore because I needed software upgrades that didn't fit the specs I had. However, I didn't want to gain the same mistake I made the first time and engage it legal before a software upgrade. This is the perfect time to capture this Mac Mini. Snow Leopard is pre-installed, and there's roughly about $150 worth of extra memory and hurry for the same trace as the previous model that was objective released about 6 months ago.

One complaint I did have with my frail Mac mini was that it was a wound to configure my internet connection. The internet setup for this current model is simply traipse and play. Absolutely no configuration is needed if your plugging in an Ethernet cable, whether it's bent up to a router or not.

I basically only expend my Mac Mini for the Internet, downloading music and video for my Ipod, digital report storage, and occasionally typing and printing a paper. If that's all your going to expend it for and your sick of all the viruses and hidden internet files that tiresome down your computer when you utilize a PC, then lift this entry level Mac Mini.

I bought this kit because it was a suited value especially with a rebate.

You might judge an included flashlight is useless but mediate again. You can gather a lot of light time out of the battery attached to the flashlight and it's gleaming. Also, while the flashlight seems cheaply made (unlike the driver/drill, which seems very sturdy), the fact that it can stand up on the battery evil and point anywhere in the room is nice when you are working with shrimp light.

The Makita unit is sturdy, designed well and fun to utilize. It may not be quite as smooth-running as the more expensive Panasonic cordless drivers, but for the money and bang for the buck, you can't beat Makita. I also like the intention the Makita looks better than any other imprint. It performs very well and I am not dissappointed at all.

The included Makita case is a nice fabricate and sturdy-a bit like a Pelican case. The Makita charger is also position saving. My only complaint is I wish the case was slightly smaller. It's about the size of a briefcase and there is a lot of empty status inside when you accumulate the drill, batteries and charger loaded in. On the plus side, you can employ this extra plot for extra bits and other shrimp handtools that you might want to carry.

6/3/2009 Update

I've been using the blueprint for a few weeks now. It has a lot of potential and things can be done, but many applications/features lack the quality of a worn product: inconsistent and irascible interface, missing features etc.

Major issues:

1. Limited POI database. Only 2 mln POIs, and so far, no procedure to select or import additional POIs. Sizable quandary for me, and no easy design around. Finding missing POIs using Google at home takes longer than on a regular GPS unit with built-in POIs. You cannot exhaust Google on the road (or it is mighty more difficult) . Some GPS devices have 6 or more millions of POIs; you can really bask in it after using the cramped 2mln Clarion's database.

2. POI search bustle can be from 10 seconds to 3 minutes!!! depending on user's entry. 3 minutes - it is fair an absurd number. It must be fixed.

3. No Bluetooth hands-free calling. (The GPS is supposed to work with a phone. Why not hands-free calling? I need a BT headset? How many more electronics should I carry? )

4. Bluetooth dial-up network (DUN) doesn't work with my phone. I was surprised because it was one of the major selling points. Clarion provides only a list of compatible networks and my network is on that list. No list of compatible/supported phones.(My phone's DUN works with my other devices)

My hope is that Clarion will hold releasing updates and improving its functionality.

Written before 6/3/2009

The great:

1. Integration with the Internet:

a) You can send POIs from the Internet to ClarionMiND. Even with worthy GPS units finding POIs may be difficult: you either don't secure it or you earn too many. ClarionMiND lets you view your poke on your computer at home using Google Maps, and send POIs to the plan. Sizable feature!!!

b) Gargantuan desktop-class Internet browser. You will be able to do everything you can do on your desktop at home, including Flash videos.

c) Google search, and it is integrated with navigation.

2. Navigation (I will update this review on route quality after I consume the unit more) :

a) So far routes search for honorable.

b) Lane support. It shows which lane on a multi-lane road you should catch.

c) Nice job with articulate directions. For example, it tells you something like, "go to the apt side of the road" in order to prepare you for moral turn.

d) All info needed for navigation is on the screen: compass heading (N, NE, E...), arrival time, distance, next and novel street.

e) auto-zoom.

3. POI

a) Very hastily search

b) You can preview POIs on the arrangement. This is something nice and current. You can bewitch a single or a group of POIs and spy them on a temporary plot.

4. Address entry

a) Very expeditiously.

b) QWERTY keyboard

c) Predictable entry. Only apt keys are active. As you preserve entering data, it shows what was found at the top of the cloak.

d) It remembers previous entry, and lets you re-start search from any level: area, city, street.

5. Hardware:

a) Magnificent, high-resolution, immense screen

b) Touchscreen works well. It is responsive.

c) Dedicated hardware buttons for Home, Top Menu, Music/Sound.

d) Vast to enjoy in hands

6. Free Internet traffic. So far, I didn't gather if it is integrated with navigation. There will be an option for radio traffic which, most likely, will be integrated.

7. Internet weather, news, email etc

8. Quick GPS lock. Less than 30 seconds.

The bad:

1.POI database is microscopic. I couldn't glean retail stores like, Walmart, Target, Costco etc

2.The car mount is terrible. It is a few 100s dollars plan with a "$1" mount. Very difficult to mount/dismount.

3.After you mount the plan, it automatically limits its Internet functionality. Result: you cannot exercise the Internet in your garage when the draw is mounted. You have to dismount it 1st, check the Internet, mount it again. Terrible!!! If they wanted to accomplish it kindly, they should detect vehicle hurry from the GPS.

4.Addresses are not displayed in the American format (number street, city zip), but as zip city street number.

5.Keyboard

a) Inconsistent keys. Sometimes, it is character-only; sometimes, characters and digits.

b) Inconsistent behavior: to earn, sometimes you have to click "Help", sometimes "Enter"; sometimes something else.

6.Too many keystrokes needed to inspect the route overview.

7.Unique time is not displayed during navigation.

8.The blueprint gets very hot.

9. Video player doesn't get many video formats.

The bottom line:

It is a enormous navigation device: very rapid, detailed spoken commands, plenty of details on the hide, astronomical plan, obliging routes. The method could be a perfect GPS but they have to add more POIs, BT hands-free calling, and polish the interface. ClarionMiND works very well with the Internet: it will have more or less of a practical meaning for different people.

I have veteran this unit for a few weeks. The navigation piece is suitable. Google search is useless without Wifi. POI is a joke...it cannot even procure Walmart down the street. In order to accumulate any usefulness in searches, I had to setup Wifi in my car. Traffic integration is unpleasant. The traffic applet cannot zoom. You have to switch screens to spy traffic. This cannot be done if you mount the unit. Mounting the unit switches it to car mode. The traffic receiver NK1U works okay if you glean a signal. Ogle my review. Overall, the unit is mild very rough. I am hopeful that with software updates, traffic can be updated via Wifi instead of the Docking spot. I had a Fling Jabber prior to this unit, but it got stolen. The Bolt Advise had better traffic information...I miss my now stolen and uninteresting (company is on skeleton crew) Scurry Declare.

I was very disappointed with this for several reasons. I bought it primarily for a GPS unit, which worked graceful, but I was really disappointed to eye that it does not feature the Bluetooth hands free calling. This was one of the features I was told (by an Amazon tech) that it had prior to my retract. The unit has a "Contacts" setting to store your personal contacts, including telephone numbers. What's the point of this setting, if you cannot call through the GPS via Bluetooth? As far as the internet, I do not have many Wi-fi connections in my residence, so the Bluetooth connection feature was tantalizing. However, even though I have an internet connection service on my Verizon cellular phone, I realized that to connect to the internet through this scheme, it would cost an additional $50/month for this service. What a joke! Because of this, I was unable to play with the additional online features of the unit. The unit is on its procedure assist to Amazon and I concept on purchasing a excellent Garmin GPS with bluetooth hands free calling. I hope my two cents will aid someone with their future GPS buying decision.

UPDATE AS OF 8/18/09: This player is definitely growing on me. The Audio Quality from the Burr Browns is nothing short of suited. Powered off Eject times dropped by nearly 5 seconds to a reasonable 13 seconds w/ FW update done easily over accept. My recommendation is to spend NR setting of 3 for DVDs (it is not available on BDs thankfully) . I would say DVD upconversion is identical to the Oppo 99% of the time in realworld utilize with a reasonable sized note - 50" in my case. YMMV. Really like this player, but I stand by my comments re pricing - needs to be $450 at a maximum to compete.

Note to my rating of 4/5 stars: this is highly contingent on new pricing at $535. If pricing were to dip to $425, my rating would go to 5 stars. With the Oppo at $500, the value proposition is not there with the 2010. It needs to be priced slightly under the oppo unless you are a denon nut beyond reason. The Pioneer 320 is the next closest competitor and its tag has dipped below $300. The Denon needs to maintain a spot between the two.

Major hdmi handshake content with my 8G Kuro out of the box. Effect positive you turnoff the HDMI control from the player or you will have HDMI gremlins galore going in and our of menus and what not. I am smooth getting HDMI gremlins upon power off and power on.

Menus are largely identical to 1800 and 2500; they are sparse but easy to follow. I was hoping for a bit more color and refinement, but they work. The 2010 does allow five memory settings for PQ adjustment, but does not offer any canned settings like the Pioneer 320 and 51.

Operational rush and responsiveness have largely improved from the 2500, but i would not categorize it as mercurial. Powered off eject time is consistently 17 (w. fw 13s) seconds. Load times are mid-pack to plain and by no means fleet.

For example:

Dark Knight: to anti-piracy page

JVC: 17 seconds

Oppo: 16 seconds

Pio 320: 42 seconds

Pio 51: 45 seconds

Denon 1800: 42 seconds

Denon 2500: 48 seconds

Denon 2010: 36 seconds

Heavy Java discs showed a bigger improvement, shaving nearly 20 seconds off the POTC1 from the 2500.

Build quality is more compact, but it is heavy and enormous. I would compare it to the Oppo without hesitation. The oppo weighs 11lbs and the 2010 weighs 10.6lbs. The Oppo is a hair taller and has a more imposing stance in a rack. I would give the nod to the Denon in regard to looks, although I choose the 2500 to both.

In respects of my initial testing, the abt chip does not peruse film cadences and deinterlace as well as the Oppo in synthetic tests. Its performance is wonderful, but not as like a flash or legal as the Oppo or for that matter the JVC XV-BP1. It does an admirable job with video based dispute. Color accuracy was very generous and did not push red like the denon 1800.

BD performance at 1080P 24fps was well-behaved and identical to the 2500/1800/Oppo. I am a believer that BD at 1080P 24fps is largely identical with normal viewing distances/display sizes (i am using a 50" kuro) .

SD Upscaling on the shrimp material is definitely better than the 2500 and 1800. I have not been able to establish my finger on it, but I deem it might be enhancing the dissimilarity to give the image more pop. Colors are comely neutral and correct. The image is very similar to the Oppo, but not quite as superior. I am reasonably impressed with its upscaling ability. More time will give me a better feel for it, but first impressions are definite.

My early gripes are that Denon did not improve accelerate significantly; I contemplate the higher raze CEs like pioneer, denon and others are struggling to do the gains that the koreans have. Interestingly, Samsung only made the gains when they dropped the right help of their players -the reon chip.

That said, Audio Quality and Represent Quality are edifying in this radiant package.

I guess this is a big subwoofer. I was very surprise to gaze the speaker is underneath the subwoofer. Mine is sitting on carpet, therefore I hope I am getting all the outrageous sounds. I purchased a complete station of 5 speakers and I have tall sound, so I guess the subwoofer is doing the job.

Our first rotisserie was an older compact Ronco with a cylindrical cooking chamber and a horizontal spit, a nice enough product that delivered shapely results -- but it was a hassle. The chicken had to be very carefully and tightly trussed, because of the side-to-side orientation of the spit. The quad spikes that made up the spit had to be very carefully centered on the bird, so that the relatively faded motor wouldn't hang up as it tried to retract the heavier side, a process complicated by though-provoking bird parts if the chicken wasn't perfectly trussed. Anything more than a 3.5-4 pound bird ran the risk of brushing up against the drip tray on every rotation, and in general, we found the whole process to be more anxiety than it was worth. We impartial didn't exercise it very often.

Enter the Cuisinart CVR-1000. Everything that was corrupt about the Ronco was apt about this one. The vertical spit, the big interior cooking plot, the ability to determine different temperature settings, even the shipshape lines and stainless exterior. The cooking process couldn't be mighty easier and more convenient. Because it's a vertical spit, you unbiased truss the legs together (or not), and coast the cavity of the bird down over the central wait on. That's it. No spellbinding metal spikes to drive through the bird, no trying to properly orient the weight of it all, no trying to match the ends of the spikes to metal sockets on another round disk. The encourage sits in the round drip tray (looks like a exiguous cake pan), and both arrive out of the oven easily. So you can state everything up on the counter, dash it true into the oven, turn it on and an hour later you have a wonderfully cooked bird.

Cleaning is a cinch. There's a polished heat reflector tedious the heating elements that unprejudiced slides accurate out. The drip tray catches all the juices, so what's left is honest a swiftly and easy wipe-down on the glass door and interior walls.

The oven sports an interior light, which is really more novelty than tool, but it's nice to be able to peer a microscopic more clearly how dismal the skin may be getting.

I try to avoid superlatives in reviews, but with products like this one, it's okay to fail sometimes. This is the best rotisserie I've owned. Performance and stunning appeal matched with fabulous ease of exhaust and convenience. I do highly recommend brining your birds before cooking. While rotisserie chickens are often juicy and flavorful without, you can waste up with some absolutely unbelievable results with. A luscious maple brine we exercise consists of 2 quarts water, 1 cup murky brown sugar, 1/2 cup soy sauce, 1/2 cup staunch maple syrup, 1/4 cup + 2 tablespoons sea salt, 5 whole cloves garlic (peeled), 4 whole bay leaves, 2 astronomical sprigs of thyme, 1 teaspoon whole sad peppercorns. Mix it together, bring it to a boil and cook it until all the sugars are dissolved. Let it chilly to room temperature before adding the bird. Refrigerate both together (bird fully submerged -- this is enough brine for one 4-4.5 pound chicken) for between 5.5 to 6 hours, then toss it in the rotisserie according to the included instructions (about an hour + 5 minutes for that sized bird) . What you'll have at the extinguish is a subtly flavored smoky sweet very juicy and flavorful bird, grand to anything you might obtain at typical groceries or rotisserie quick food places.

Love this machine, and will highly recommend it to friends and family.

This is not the Cuisinart solid construction that you knew in the 80's and 90's. It's not rickety by any means, but it falls short of the Cuisinart tradition. It cooks a favorable chicken, but if you want one more than 4 1/2 lbs it's hit or miss. The included cookbook doesn't even have a standard cooking chart for different foods. Unprejudiced recipes that call for specific weights and rubs, etc. For the seasoned rotisserie cook this will not be a quandary, but for the occasional roaster like myself you regain a two hundred dollar section of eye-candy (It does study sleek and recent) that you have to figure out the cooking times for on your acquire. One tip I glimpse often recommended here is the brining and I will go along with that. I had never brined a chicken before and I WAS amazed at the results. The cookbook does have instructions for that. I honest wish they'd done a guideline chart and it would have been a useful cooking tools for every level of chef.

The chiken you pick up after using this Cusinart is palatable. Easy to consume, easy to trim, speedy cooking and most importantly substantial results. I haven't seen a similar product on the market yet. Lets not forget about mark, which is very convenient. My friends are envious and some already ordered the same rotisserie.

Depth of drive is awesome. No tools, objective click the dial which is conveniently located and it increments or decrements in 1 millimeter intervals.

This framer feels light for its size, yet is very noteworthy. It shoots standard nails, and I also conventional the 30 degree paslode FRH (stout round head) nails and ring shanks without assert.

Rubber grip is comfortable and the tool has rubber bumpers to protect the housing.

Not determined about the air sheet to prick the noise when decoupling the air hose, it serene seems ravishing loud to me so I don't know why they bothered with that.

I don't utilize LVL's (I rob steel) so I can't narrate on natty heavy duty wood framing, but for general purpose stuff like walls, floor joists, built-up beams I had no problems toenailing and sinking the heads, even with ringshanks.

No complaints except the high impress and it could have near with a rafter hook. I would definitely purchase it again. By the design, it needs a 3/8" NPT air fitting or you'll need a step down to exercise it with standard 1/4" air fittings.

If you're comparing to the AN922 fat round head Makita framer, a Vast incompatibility is the 922 will shoot .162 gauge nails and the 942 is small to .131 (which is typical) .

A few minutes in the tools crib and I found an adapter from Husky about a $1.50 located arrive the air compressors and 2,000 count box of GripRite GRSP12DZ for $19.97 - now off to make some walls.

The gun performed flawless through the first case of nails. No misfires and a LOT less kick befriend that my buddy's Senco. This gun is truly a one-hand spend tool, biggy in my book. The turn style impact gauge is a sweet deal, after having "genuine green" pine meander for the wall studs.

Some other nailers that spend that same nails as this framing nail gun are as follows:

Dewalt D51823

Hitachi NR83AA & NR90AA

Paslod Power Master Plus, Impulse 53005 & SK 312

Senco All Frame Pro 600 & 700 - SN325+ & SN70

33 degree paper tap nailers are the key words to locate on the box. The produce listed Plastic or Paper for the nail collation material. My comment would be that paper doesn't bounce all around after a nail is fired.

I am very, very overjoyed with this engage. I highly recommend this gun based from its performance and beget quality.

~Update~

I have tried a few flavors of framing nails manufacturers and it appears that 30 - 34 degree nails will all work in this gun. I retract the paper taped nails, nothing bounces around after firing a nail. Lowes and HomeDepot both stock a advantageous assortment of nails compatible with this model and the brand is sometimes awesome, especially when on clearance.

I purchased the AN942 to develop myself a shed. I was very delighted with the quality of the nailing gun and it's function. After landing approximately 2500 nails into the shed, there were maybe 5 nail jams -- mostly due to the type of nails I was using.

There are two things that I like the most about this nailer:

- it's weight: It is fairly light compared to other models out on the market

- the option of trigger nailing or bump nailing with the flick of a switch! Very nice. After getting primitive to the gun, bump nailing made the project depart along even faster.

My only con that I can contemplate of are:

- there is no case that comes with this gun?! Your provided w/glasses and oil. Substitute the glasses for a decent case please.

- I really wish there was a rafter hook on this gun. could gain life easier sometimes.

Also, the thread is 3/8" NPT -- so be prepared to have a reducer should you choose to bustle a 1/4"NPT line.

The short version:

Pros:

The optical quality is gargantuan, the rush is terrific, and it compares well to the 70-200mm lens that people like to say blows this out of the water (I absorb they are nasty - but we will fetch into that later) and finally, the stamp cannot be beaten. Remove it.

Cons:

No hood, extends as it zooms, and the quality of the describe in indecent light dwelling lessens a runt.

The long version:

I am writing this in simple terms. I found several, several reviews on this lens but they were all in technical terms and leaves you scratching your head a minute. So, if you are like me maybe this review will relieve you.

I bought this lens a couple months ago from US1Photo.com (check these guys out. They regularly have essential sales and terrific customer service) . I exhaust this lens with a Canon 40D.

I steal several types and styles of pictures so I needed a lens that would do the best job at several things and have a very affordable trace (apt at or less than $1,000) . I looked through current, faded, third party (Tamron, Sigma, etc) lenses, and read too many reviews and looked at too many images to count, and spent four hours in a photography store playing with lenses before I decided to employ money and engage advantage of this lens. All in all I spent about a week's worth of time in research and testing before I bought this lens.

---

Edit:

Okay, so amazon won't let me do a link here. This is how you secure me.

~Go to Flickr

~Then type in a "/" then "photos" then "/" and last type in "gman_five0"

And that should lift you there.

---

Test of comment #1:

~The Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM does not track keen objects very well and the farther to the destroy of the zoom the slower the tracking.

(Flickr Gallery page 2)

This, I have found, to be completely despicable. I have worn the lens at several sporting events and found that it tracks rather nicely. I was able to track every step of a base-runner from first despicable to second, bound, and recovery after the play without losing ONE shot.

To discover what I am talking about check out my gallery on Flickr. The older ones are NOT done with this lens or camera and taken, actually, several years ago. I will reference the pictures in examine.

Safe, Got There By a Mile, Breaking Up That Double Play (please label that as time goes on from the date that this was posted the pictures may have been re-moved) . Also, "Superior" was traditional instead of another shot taken at the same time and angle with a 70-200mm IS lens.

To grasp these shots I stale "AI focus" and the "H" settings on my camera for quicker tracking and the H settings for about 6 frames per second.

Test of Comment #2:

~The 200-300mm range is nice in theory, but a tack-sharp photo from the 70-200mm f/4L at 200mm is going to witness better cropped than a 300mm full-frame photo from this lens.

Again, I found this to be bad. Though I have no dependable "chunky sized" characterize for this if you comment relieve with an email address then we can arrange a viewing of one. Otherwise, bewitch my word for it, I have several lenses and this one stacks up well.

(Ref Flickr Gallery)

The pictures from the Dance Theater and Tashina were all taken at the 200-300mm focus lengths. Again, they are not bulky sized because of photo pirates, but if you email me we can eye about rotund sized shots.

Test of Comment #3:

~The IS motor is loud

I do not know what these people are talking about, but if you call that loud...

On the other hand, I have heard (once), the sound of the IS motor, but if you are not listening for it you will not even inspect it.

Things I have found about the lens:

If you utilize some time with the lens will be one of your best friends. It is a big lens especially for people on a budget (like me) . To grasp the best pictures you cannot honest twist it on and go to shooting. Recall the time to LEARN about the lens (change shutter speeds, ISO settings, aperture, white balances, etc) and it will prove you where it shines - unbiased like the L series lenses and the 70-200mm IS.

This lens has a solid manufacture and feels like it will last forever. Then again, as you zoom the lens does extend and is plastic. So, gape out if you are doing sports. You may secure it knocked off. It did well for me, though. Extending while zooming makes putting a hood on the lens a bit (very little; so dinky that you cannot notify) awkward and it looks kinda goofy.

I like the lens because it is not as burly as the 70-200mm lens and it is extremely mobile. It is as mercurial as some other lenses, not as like a flash as some, and quicker than others. It will give you astronomical quality pictures. It does have its limits, however: in grievous light situations not being able to hold it abet a couple stops and collect a wider aperture will not give you the same shot as a 70-200mm. Then again, like I said, it doesn't plunge to that f/2.8 and does not cost all that money. This has been the single drawback for me about the lens.

I spend this lens for portraits (Tashina, Samantha), for sports (gaze gallery), and music (Shawn Pander - Look Gallery) . So, it's splendid versatile. I have yet to exercise with it flash, but that is because I simply do not like to exhaust flash. I have yet to utilize it in a studio setting, but when I do I will amend this review and add a couple of those pictures as well.

This lens comes highly recommended from me. I am not a gargantuan time, highly paid, or well known photographer. I unprejudiced like to shoot and like what I shoot to be of the best quality that I can have AND afford at the time. So, if you are like me and cannot exercise the needed $1,500 - $1,700 on a 70-200mm IS lens then employ your money on this lens. You will not be sorry for it.

---

On another imprint, comments are welcome. This is my first ever review on here so let me know if there anything else that you would like to know about and I will do my best to reply the interrogate in the most insensible terms as possible.

After debating between this and the 70-200 L series I decided to lift this lens. I have been pleasantly surprised by the results. I also bear the 17-85 and the 50mm 1.8 lenses and I have found that I have gotten the "most exquisite" results from this lens. The pictures have been very fascinating from my 20D - even in the 200mm - 300mm range. I've also been tickled with the quality of the bokeh.

The famous drawback I seek is that the AF tends to hunt a handsome amount when confronted with shameful disagreement images. That being said, I stale it for some flying bird shooting at the wildlife refuge and was surprised to peek how many of the shots were in inviting focus. However, it was a dinky bit of all or nothing. Several shots were also wildly out of focus. Since the lens is fairly uninteresting to focus, you never know what you're gonna net with such a snappy spirited object against the distant sky.

I had great more consistent results when shooting soccer, softball and football in the park. The AF race did not point to an reveal for any of these activities and the results were kindly.

I wish the lens were a shrimp less expensive but I the prints I have gotten from my 13 X 19 printer have been worth the extra money.

I bought this lens as a replacement for the earlier 75-300mm IS lens. I was generally glad with that lens, but it had clear limitations - I needed to shoot at f8 or f11 and bump up the ISO to bag a decent shutter hurry.

This original version seems enchanting at pudgy zoom even wide commence, allowing me to exhaust a lower ISO setting. Size is similar to older version, but the IS seems more effective - looking through the lens when it kicks in you can actually sight the image become more stable and less shaky. I got this over the Canon 70-200 f4 L because of the extra near, smaller size (slightly) and the images I've seen from both are very similar.

UPDATE: There have been reports of soft images when using this lens in a verticle orientation - however I have not experienced this on my copy. I'm gay to say that after months of using this lens, I collected contemplate it mammoth.

The Asus eee 1101 is Asus's first foray into the "bridge" gap between 10" netbooks and 12" laptops, and has a shapely number of strengths and a few weaknesses.

A few differences between this and the ASUS Eee PC 1005HA-PU1X-BK 10.1-Inch Murky Netbook - 10.5 Hour Battery Life:

* The 1101HA has a slightly slower processor (1.33 Ghz) versus 1.66 Ghz. You're able to overclock it to execute up for that performance loss, however.

* The LCD on the 1101HA is is 720p (1366x768), but anything running at 720p will most likely overtax the CPU and produce it a awful viewing experience. Even playing Quicktime mp4 (720p) with a 5mbps bit rate had frame dropping.

* Awesome battery life. Laptop Magazine reported nearly 9 hours of battery life on their torture test but it hit 7.5 hours in my test of WiFi + movie playing.

The main competition is the Acer Aspire One AO751h-1893 11.6-Inch Gloomy Netbook - 8 Hour Battery Life, which has a slightly smaller pricetag to match the slightly less battery runtime. But it also includes Vista, a bigger hard drive and more memory. So, on the dawn of Windows 7's release date, having Vista would originate the upgrade process to Windows 7 slightly easier. Even though I've had mixed experience with the Acer price, it represents a better value than the 1101HA.

The spot that if you were to shop for a netbook today, you're almost innundated with choices. There are too many to determine from, and there's not one that stands out from the rest. The Asus 1101HA is an tremendous netbook, but it doesn't invent the decision easier to decide between this and the Acer A0751h.

When my wife wanted suggestions about what novel laptop to hold, I suggested this netbook. I recommended it because it had an SVGA+ reveal (1366 x 768 pixels) and amazingly long battery life. The veil and battery have not disappointed us.

However, we have noticed three major difficiencies in this netbook.

First, the speakers are honest abominable. There is no bass whatsoever, and the midrange is comely nonexistent as well. Frankly, I cannot own to listen to music played on this netbook. I have gone into the Realtek equalizer and cranked the bass and dropped the high-end frequencies. It unruffled sounds poor.

Second, the touchpad buttons are a rocker, not separate buttons. This means that you must press on the outside edges of the rocker in order to click. Which means your thumb has to move a long diagram to switch between upright and left clicks. I come by this a sincere hassle. I have to proceed my whole hand to switch between buttons. This is lousy from an ergonomic standpoint.

Third, I did not know when I recommended this netbook to my wife that the CPU is designed to only perceive up to 1GB of RAM! I had planned to add another 1GB in order to improve performance and multitasking ability.

I currently possess a different ASUS netbook myself -- a 1000HE ASUS Eee PC 1000HE 10.1-Inch Shadowy Netbook - 9.5 Hour Battery Life. I cherish it, except for its tiny mask resolution (1024x600) . Its speakers are vastly first-rate to those in the 1101HA. Music sounds astronomical on the 1000HE. Also, the Atom N280 CPU in the 1000HE sees the 2GB of RAM I place in the machine.

I have one last complaint that applies to both the 1000HE and the 1101HA. It is that both these netbooks have wireless cards built in that only befriend the 2.4 GHz ISM band. This band is also obsolete by microwave ovens, cordless phones and bluetooth. This means that the range and hasten of the wireless connection is often degraded by interference. Newer 802.11n cards wait on the 5 GHz ISM band. Some cards even relieve combining the bandwidth in both the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands. I am planning to have my next laptop/netbook encourage the 5 GHz band.

Aside from these complaints, both the ASUS 1000HE and 1101HA are colossal netbooks!

I hope this helps you retract the best acquire for you.

If you are looking for a Netbook with a gargantuan shroud, astounding battery life, solid obtain quality, I highly recommend the 1101HA from ASUS. I have been using mine for a exiguous over a month, and am so far very contented. I exercise this both to fair surf the web when I am kicked assist on the coach, and when I move as my considerable system. I depart very frequently, gone are the days when I have to speed around the airport trying to earn an outlet. I can establish in a solid 8 hour day and unbiased 'forget' to rush the system in for power. It doesn't compare to my x301 thinkpad, but that is a $2K different class of system (this is a netbook, not a notebook) . The 1101HA has an overdrive feature, that coupled with the built in Atom extensions for HD really boost performance when you want to glance movies, or have an intensive application (editing a gargantuan presentation) .

If you are deployed this is a broad choice, I would have been really contented to have had this the last time I was in the desert. It comes with a padded pouch, unprejudiced throw it in your ruck and forget about it. Miniature enough to carry around, broad enough to employ.

Pros:

1. The veil is 11.6", not the standard hurry of the mill 10". More importantly it has a higher resolution than most netbooks out there at 1366 x 768.

2. Nice keyboard size for a netbook, feels well made, and allows me to type at run.

3. Button to turn off the beget in mouse-pad if your using a bluetooth (or any) mouse.

4. Bluetooth, definitely a sure, I have paired this to my earpiece to consume with my softphone (or skype etc) .

5. Mammoth battery life.

6. Really nice beget quality, looks enormous.

Cons:

Not noteworthy really, I never write reviews, it has to really be unbiased that obedient to motivate me. The fingerprints left on the gloss conclude don't bother me, especially since ASUS provided a special cloth designed for that. The only genuine grip I have is that there is not external access to the hard drive, if you want to build an SSD in this system, you have to crack this sucker commence (not for the faint of heart) .

If you are going to upgrade the memory to 2GB, you need to steal specific versions or it will disable the over-clocking feature. The ASUS assist sit lists the memory modules that are know to work.

Linux: If you don't consume Linux, that's it, if you do read on..

I utilize Fedora, assuming that other distros will have similar results. Installed Fedora 11, you will need to add the plousbo yum repo for the GMA500 that Will Adam from Red Hat is driving. I bought the Fluendo codecs, they have a specific version to benefit the Atom that takes advantage of the hardware decoders. To manipulate the over-clocking feature you simply echo values to /proc, google it . Outside of that, it honest worked, webcam, bluetooth, etc.
